Formula E lock in their 2025/26 race calendar

Formula E announced its 2025/26 calendar today on social media, with a return to Sanya in June on the cards in the 12th running of the all-electric championship.

Sanya joins Shanghai on the Season 12 calendar, with China now hosting two events in a single season, with three races between the events.

There will be 17 rounds in total, with Berlin, Monaco, Tokyo, and London to hold two FE race weeks.

Pablo Martino, Head of Formula E at the FIA said: “This unprecedented 17-race schedule blends the very best of long-standing Formula E venues and new additions in dynamic global cities, including a second event in China, which is such a relevant market for the series’ manufacturers and the country where it all began back in 2014.” – Formula E Press Release

After extensive testing in Valencia in a few weeks time, the cars will line up in Sao Paulo Brazil for the first race of the season on December 6th.

Fans can expect new faces and significant changes on the grid, as McLaren exited Formula E in August. Their star rookie driver, Taylor Barnard, will make his debut with DS Penske, teaming up with Maximilian Günther.

Citroën will step in to fill McLaren’s spot, having announced their entry into Formula E last month. Their inaugural driver lineup will feature double champion Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy.

Felipe Drugovich will join the ranks of Formula E this December, aiming to return to full-time racing after a lengthy stint in the reserves at Aston Martin in F1.

Red Bull junior Pepe Marti is poised to join the grid with what appears to be Cupra Kiro, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

Thirty-three-year-old Swiss driver Nico Mueller will transition from the Porsche customer team Andretti to the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer’s factory Formula E team.

Formula E World Champion Oliver Rowland will continue with Nissan for a sixth season, partnering with Norman Nato after a strong performance in Season 11, which saw Nissan secure third place in the Teams’ World Championship.

The remainder of the season will unfold in 2026, culminating in the grand finale at the London circuit, just as it did previously.
